church at Charlwood. They were almost certainly previously members of
the Society of Friends (Quakers). They had children.

Richard ELLIS married Hannah NEWNHAM (c.1796 - 1853) on the 23rd October 1823 at Charlwood.
From the 1841 census to 1853 Richard is described as a carpenter living at Norwood hill to the north of the parish. In 1851 he was employing one man. This was almost certainly William KNIGHT a sawyer born at Worth in Sussex and later to marry Richard's daughter, Eliza.
Richard ELLIS married Hannah NEWNHAM (c.1796 - 1853) on the 23rd October 1823 at Charlwood. They had children.
Eliza ELLIS baptised 9 April 1826 and married on the 19th April 1852 at Charlwood to William KNIGHT. On Eliza's death in 1876 William remarried in 1877 to Phoebe ELLIS, the widow of George ELLIS of Ifield (NO CONNECTION!)
